Photo Guidelines

1. The best photographs for engraving not only have high contrast within the
   subject(s)/object(s), they also have high contrast from subject(s)/object(s)
   to background.  
   
   

   Contrast poor between Hudson's ears and face.	Contrast poor within rose & between leaves.	Great contrast.

   
   

2. The best photos for engraving do not contain shadows or reflections.
   
   

   Shadow around base of house.	Reflections in photo.	No shadows or reflections.

   
   

3. When it is necessary to reduce or enlarge the size of the photograph so that it fits well on your tribute of choice, please note that the higher the quality and the resolution of the photo, the more desirable the results will be.

4. Please ensure that the photo you submit is suitable for the product upon which it will be engraved.  For example 6”x4” photo should be chosen for a 7”x5” plaque rather than a 4”x6” photo.
   
   

Please Note:

• High quality/high resolution photographs are a necessity for desirable results. Unfortunately, in is impossible to convert a low quality/low resolution photograph into a high quality/high resolution photograph desirable for engraving. Please do not submit photos/images from the Internet or other photos that are low in quality/resolution.
• You may be asked to submit additional photos if the photo you initially selected is not suitable for engraving. 
• For logos, black and white print/camera ready artwork (high quality and high resolution) is required to ensure desirable results.

Following are the ways in which a photo(s) can be received by Treasured Tributes:

1. Drop off a printed photo at the office in Innisfil or have it delivered and placed between the screen door and the front door specifying No Signature Required. For smaller engraved images on your product of choice, drop off/deliver a 4”x6” or 6”x4” photograph, whichever one is suitable. For larger engraved images, on your product of choice drop off/deliver an 8”x10” or 10”x8” photograph, whichever one is suitable.  
2. Save your photo file to CD and drop it off at the office in Innisfil or have it delivered and placed between the screen door and front door specifying No Signature Required. You can either use a scanned image of your photo or you can use an image uploaded from your digital camera. If you scan a photo into your computer, please ensure that you scan it at 300 dpi-dots per inch (advanced settings) before saving your photo file to CD.  
3. Bring your USB Storage Device / Flash Drive to the office in Innisfil so that a photo(s) can be uploaded to a computer using a USB port. 
4. It is not ideal to send your photo(s) to Treasured Tributes electronically. However, if that is the best mode of transport for you, please ensure that the photo file is small/medium in size for small engraved images or large in size for large engraved images (option when e-mailing), and please ensure that you check your file for viruses before sending it.
